VMIVME-7487 single board microcomputer is a fully compatible microcomputer with IBM PC/AT 80486, with additional advantages of Eurocard structure and compatibility with VMEbus specification Rev C. 1 is fully compatible. VMIVME-7487 features an advanced VMEbus interface, mailbox registers, and dual port to VMEbus RAM, making it an ideal choice for multiprocessor applications. The VMIVME-7487 of VMIC has two operating modes: standard PC/AT compatibility mode and VMEbus controller mode. After being powered on, it can be used as a standard PC/AT. It performs a PC/AT type power on self-test and then starts MS-DOS, Windows, OS/2, NextStep, XENIX, or any other PC/AT compatible operating system. After startup, VMIVME-7487 can take on additional functions of the VMEbus controller and interact with other VMEbus modules. VMIVME-7487 can also be accessed as a VMEbus slave board.

The VMIC VMIVME-5588 high-speed reflective memory with interrupts supports error detection and redundant transmission mode to suppress errors. This board meets the specifications of a single slot VME, and can support up to 256 nodes and a node spacing of 10000 meters using single-mode fiber. Data written to a node’s memory will also be written to the memory of all nodes on the network.
