The General Electric Fanuc/VMIC VMIVME-4905 high-power digital synchronous machine/rotary converter board is a type of digital synchronous machine or rotary converter (DSC/DRC) board that uses the NATEL-HSDR 2514 converter module. It supports multiple options by configuring jumpers and installing optional components on the basic printed circuit board to support these options. The MIVME-4905 board supports built-in testing VMIChardware and has offline and online fault detection and isolation functions. The built-in testing function requires a VMIC four channel synchronous digital converter (SDC) board (VMIVME-4911) or a single channel SDC board (VMIVME-4910) and a standard synchronous testing backplane (SRTbus) to be installed in the P2 position of the standard VMEchassis (refer to the VMIC synchronous machine/rotary transformer (built-in testing) subsystem configuration guide, document number 825-00000-004). The board accepts a 14 digit output word (shaft angle), reference excitation voltage, and generates an output from a synchro or rotary converter.

This board is very suitable for computer systems that process digital information, such as simulators, robots, and other control oriented systems. DSC/drci offers multiple options that can interface with most standard autosyn or rotary transformer devices.

VMIVME-4514A has three ADC operating modes. They are random polling, scanning polling, and automatic scanning. When the motherboard is powered on, the system resets or enters automatic scanning mode under program control. In this mode, all 16 channels are continuously scanned. Their inputs are digitized and stored in 16 12 bit dual port registers. Apart from reading data from these registers, there is no need for programming.
