Unlike bus based computers, The RACE switching architecture is designed to improve efficiency, allowing for multiple concurrent transactions, so the performance of processors and I/O devices will not be reduced due to data scarcity. Concurrent transactions also provide the simultaneous input, output, and computation required for applications driven by real-time sensor acquisition and display. Mercury’s motherboard provides extensive configurability and scalability, providing an entry point for RACEWay.

Mercury’s high standards in design and manufacturing have resulted in the environmental specifications of RACE commercial products exceeding the requirements of many harsh environmental applications.

The MCH series motherboard consists of MCH6 and MCH9, which have 6U and 9U shapes respectively, and have VME64 and cable conduit interfaces. Mercury’s RACE MCV series motherboards can be combined with MCH series motherboards, allowing the use of i860 SHARC and PowerPC processors (i860 processors are only supported on MCV series motherboards).

The MCJ series motherboards come in two external specifications: 6U and 9U, MCJ motherboards can be used with VME backboards, which are equipped with single port or dual port RACE++interconnect modules connected to VME P2/J2 backboards
