Alan Bradley 1785-l4b is a programmable logic controller (PLC) component. This product is a controller belonging to the PLC5 product series. It is installed on PLC5 chassis, such as 1771-A1B, 1771-A2B, 1771-A3B, 1771-A3B1, and 1771-A4B.
This controller is an ideal choice for large and medium-sized automation applications, as it comes with a 48k word user memory that can handle any combination of 2048 total I/O devices, or a supplementary configuration of 2048 input and 2048 output devices. As the I/O capacity increases, the controller can also handle up to 29 PLC 5 racks, including 1 local rack and 28 remote I/O racks. The local rack refers to the rack where the controller is installed.
The controller is also equipped with four (4) DH+or remote I/O (adapter or scanner) combination ports, one (1) serial port, which can be configured as RS-232 and 423, as well as RS-422A communication standards. Each combination port can be used with a separate network, allowing the controller to implement four (4) independent DH+/RIO networks. The serial communication channel allows for point-to-point interfaces, which is also an ideal choice for short distance communication.
Additional EEPROMs or backup storage devices can be installed as non-volatile memory for the controller. The available storage cards include 1785-ME16 with 16K characters, 1785-ME32 with 32K characters, 1785-ME64 with 64K characters, and 1785-ME100 with 100K characters.
